Mr. Donnie Milfred Murphy

Donnie Milfred Murphy, 64, Walhalla, SC went peacefully to be with our Lord from his home on Monday, October 4, 2021, after a very long intense battle with cancer. He fought so hard to give his family and friends every day he could. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Murphy was the son of Alton Murphy and the late Dorothy Victoria Ivester. Donnie accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in his home in 1996. He worked for Ford Co. at Keowee Keys before opening his own business, Main Street Carpet, in Walhalla. Mr. Murphy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years: Lillian Harden Murphy and son: Michael Murphy of Salem, SC; daughters: Kellie Robinson (Charles) of West Union, SC; and Corie Goldsmith (Donzel) of Seneca, SC; grandchildren Israel Robinson and Jaxin Goldsmith and Aceleigh Goldsmith and Tyler Murphy and Caden Murphy and sisters: Cathy Lowery and Sherry Holland (Tommy) In addition to his mother, Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his son, Bradley David Murphy, and brother, Samuel Edward Murphy. Donnie loved his family and friends beyond measure, and was often known to lend a helping hand to all. Donnie loved to travel and chase sunsets with his wife. He was a man of many talents, but his greatest was at being a Papa. He always taught the grandchildren in fun ways that they enjoyed, and would play in the floor for hours. They often fussed over who got to lay with him to get their back scratched. He loved going to arcades, starting with his children and carried on the tradition with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman that loved playing and coaching many sports: basketball, softball, football, bowling, golf, pool. He used his love of working with his hands to help many people along the way, and never expected anything in return. He loved unconditionally, and he will be tremendously missed by many. The family would also like to give a special thank you to, Hospice of the Foothills, and all family and friends who have supported us during this difficult process. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Maranatha Church located at 250 Keowee School Rd, Seneca, SC 29672 on Tuesday, October 12th, at 5 pm. Visitation will follow the service.
