Joyce Cregor Thielker

Joyce Elaine Cregor Thielker, 93 years old, widow of her beloved husband of 68 years, Edgar Edward Thielker, who predeceased her on September 23, 2018, passed away November 20, 2020 in Seneca, SC. The daughter of the late Vera and Lawrence Cregor. Joyce was born September 24, 1927 in Mellon, Wisconsin then moved to Bessemer, Michigan where she resided until her marriage to Edgar Thielker in 1950. Her greatest joy in life came from her husband and family. Survived by her 3 children, Jeffrey Thielker (Joan) of Frederick, MD, Curtis Thielker (Joanne) Salem, SC, Sheri Bojanowski (John) Westford, MA; grandchildren, Jaefen Thielker (Heather), Joshua and Jordan Thielker, Matthew Thielker (Jennifer), Trista Shigley (Brett Shigley), Kyle Bojanowski (Kate), Elise Bojanowski; and 8 great grandchildren, James and Avery Thielker, Avia, Pierce, and Davis Thielker, and Cooper, Eva, and Juliana Shigley. Joyce also stayed connected and enjoyed the extended Thielker family on Ed’s side of the family. Prior to marriage, she attended AD Johnston HS in Bessemer MI where she earned a full scholarship to college. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a BA in English and taught school in Tecumseh, Michigan after graduation. Her married life was spent in Wilmington, Delaware where she and her husband reared their children. During these years she taught at Delaware Pre-School and then High School English at Brandywine High School. She then served as Public Relations Director for the Alfred I. DuPont School District and then the New Castle County School District. In 1990, she retired and increased her involvement in several volunteer organizations including a Member of the Delaware Art Museum Council, the Christiana Hospital Junior Board, and the Voices of Caring for the Ministry of Caring an organization helping the underprivileged in the Wilmington area. She and husband Ed loved to travel and traveled abroad to many countries in Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean Islands and many U.S. States. The family also enjoyed many beautiful family reunion vacations that Joyce loved to plan to help celebrate milestone events. Their retirement years were spent in Bethany Beach, DE; Estero, FL; Bermuda Run, NC; and then Wellmore in Tega Cay, SC where she made many new friends, and greatly enjoyed the activities and loving community. Joyce will be missed by many who enjoyed her outgoing nature, her enthusiasm for life, and her loving and caring ways. Upon her passing, her children and spouses attended a private outdoor garden ceremony conducted by the hospice chaplain in a prayerful celebration of her life. Joyce will reside at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Memorial Columbarium, alongside her husband, in Wilmington DE. Memorials may be made to National Alzheimer Association (Alz.org) or any charity of one's choice.
