After a long, well-lived life of 91 years, Mrs. Hazel Young Lewis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice House at Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills. Born in Coward, SC, to Arnie G. and Roland Young, Hazel married her lifelong love John and moved to Marion, SC, where they began a family and lived for many years. In 1981, they relocated to the upstate, where they eventually settled in Seneca, SC. She was a lifelong Clemson Tigers fan, lover of animals and travel, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will also be remembered for her fabulous cooking, terrific sense of humor and sassy nature, and her incredible gardening skills. She retired from Clemson University in 1993 and was a member of St Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John O. Lewis, Jr., sisters Eugenia Haselden and Patricia Harper, brother Luther Waldon “L.W.” Young, and her granddaughter Holly Lasky. She is survived by her son, John O. Lewis, III; daughters Lisa Lasky (Kevin), Hazel Modica (Mark); and Lauren Harrison (Ken); her brother Billy (Doris) Young; grandchildren Noha Anaya, Lila Sheira, Ragaa Mansour, Joshua Lasky, Kaylee Paez, Mandee Modica, Amber Harrison, Seth Harrison, and Jacob Harrison; three great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Boykin Spaniels who were her constant companions, Max and Brandi. Private services will be held. Davenport Funeral Home- Blue Ridge Cremation Society is assisting the family, who are at their respective residences. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cottingham Hospice House at Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills, the Oconee Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
