Mr. Don Richie Cullars

Don Richie Cullars, who was born November 30, 1946 in Tallassee, Alabama, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on January 30, 2025, at Cottingham Hospice House. He had endured a long and courageous battle with CNS lymphoma. A proud United States Marine, Don served his country from 1967 to 1973 as a Field Radio Operator, stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Camp Pendleton, CA. His military service was a defining part of his life, shaping both his character and his commitment to others. After leaving the Marine Corps, Don began a career in the computer industry. He worked as a technician and salesman for Memorex before becoming the owner of his own successful computer company, building lasting relationships both professionally and personally. But beyond his career, Don’s true passions were his family and his adventures. A lover of sailing and wood working, Don was always seeking new ways to connect with the people he loved most. Don was a devoted husband to his wife, Elaine, for 49 years, and together they raised two daughters. He always referred to his girls as his “Lovies,” a testament to the deep, loving bond they shared. Don held his two sons-in-law in high regard, grateful for the love and support they gave his daughters, and thankful that his daughters had found such caring husbands. As a proud grandfather, he adored his five grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. Family was everything to Don. He had a close relationship with his sister, Cindy, and valued his time with her and her children, whom he loved dearly. Don’s caring nature and sense of humor will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered not just for his service to his country and his professional achievements, but for the unwavering love he gave to those he held dear. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his daughters Erin (Jon) and Lisa (Brandon); his five grandchildren, Macie, Lucy, Lillian, Patrick, and Emily; and his sister, Cindy (Charlie). A celebration of life will be held at Hampton Park Baptist Church, 875 State Park Road, Greenville, South Carolina, on February 24th at 1PM for friends and family to gather and honor his memory.
