Mr. George Frazier Todd

George Frazier Todd, lovingly known as “Papa,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was 88 years old. Papa lived a life defined by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served a total of 12 years, including a deployment to Vietnam during the Vietnam War from 1965–1966 with the 46th Combat Engineer Battalion. During his years of service, he worked as a construction machine operator and also served with the Honor Guard, carrying out his duties with discipline, respect, and pride. He was honorably discharged from the Army, a distinction that meant a great deal to him and to those who loved him. After returning home from military service, Papa spent several years working as a truck driver, a job that reflected his independence, reliability, and strong work ethic. He later went on to build a long and steady career with Vulcan Materials, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 2004. He was known as someone who showed up every day, worked hard, and took pride in doing things the right way—never seeking recognition, but earning respect all the same. Above all else, Papa was a family man. He was a devoted husband and father, a proud grandfather, and a steady, reassuring presence in the lives of those who loved him. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather; he was a source of comfort, guidance, and unconditional love. His calm presence and steady support spoke volumes. He kept everyone around him entertained with stories and adventures from his younger years. Papa is survived by his grandchildren, Amber Harrison, Seth Harrison, and Jacob Harrison; his son-in-law, Kenny Harrison (Lauren); along with many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette Harness Todd; his daughter, Rhonda Todd Harrison; his brother, Willard Todd; his parents, Ella Todd Lawhorn and Lawrence Todd; and his stepfather, Vernon Lawhorn. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at The Residences of Seneca, the medical team at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, and the hospice team at Medical Services of America who treated Papa with dignity, compassion, and respect during his final days. Their care brought comfort not only to him, but to those who loved him. A private service to celebrate Papa’s life will be held at a later date. Papa’s legacy is one of service, strength, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
